Channel casts line for best fishing
NEW BERLIN, Wis. -- Is there a bass out there in a lake somewhere calling your name?
The Sportsman Channel, a cable channel that features nothing but hunting and fishing programming, has come up with a list of the top 10 places to go fishing with your family over the summer.
- Clear Lake, Calif., which the Sportsman Channel describes as one of the top five bass fishing destinations in the United States.
- Sitka, Alaska, known for king and steelhead salmon and halibut fishing.
- Ecofina Creek, Fla., located just northeast of Panama City and a good spot for bass, bream and catfish.
- Lake Sinclair, Ga., located just outside of Macon, Ga., known for bass, crappie, catfish and crawfish.
- Guntersville Lake, Ala., where on a good day with a guide, you can catch 20 to 40 bass.
- Venice, La., which is having a great season for red fish and speckled trout fishing as the locals rebuild from Hurricane Katrina.
